The 38 Special is world renknowned for its accuracy. I know Starline states that their 38 Special +P brass is no different (except for headstamp) than their 38 Special brass. Does anyone else know for certain about any other brass? Maybe if you are recoil shy it may be easier to shoot a smaller caliber and consequently be more accurate with it but if I have always found the 38 spl to be an incredibly accurate caliber. R-P seems to be different by about 50 fps. We take a look at how it measures up against other .38 Special self-defense ammo on the market. The higher-pressure .38 +P loads at 20,000 PSI offer about 20% more muzzle energy than standard-pressure loads. My .38 Special is a Ruger LCRX great gun much more ammo choices with a .357/.38 Special by far. Mainly because I don't want my +P handloads to wander into someone's older .38. With very few exceptions, current production .38 Special revolvers are easily able to withstand the pressure of +P ammo. The .38 Special rounds, particularly when fired from short-barreled pistols, tend to be more effective compared to other revolvers like the .22 caliber or .357 caliber. For the most part, I cannot really tell the difference between them most of the time, and I never bother to load +P level ammo in .38 Special brass. The .38 Special (also referred to as .38spc or .38spl) is a rimmed, centerfire cartridge that’s commonly used in revolvers.
